Mike and I are taking a vacation from our vacation. We are spending 2 nights in Bezau about 40 minutes from Bregenz. We are staying at The Post which is a really nice hotel with a spa. We are going to have a herb bath.. Rachel and Jacob are taking us. First stop is a drink at the grocery.
Rachel and Jacob are taking us on a field trip as we make our way to Bezau.  This is the shop where Juppen are made it's almost a lost art.  A juppe is the traditional dress of the area, Bregenzer Wald.  And only those from this area are allowed to wear juppen.  Anyway the way they  are made is fascinating.

Here are Fall, Spring and Summer Juppen

This is the typical one worn with a long sleeve blouse.
The fabric is dyed several times and boiled in leather to give it this shine.
Then it's run through this crimping machine, at one time it was crimped by hand.
This was our nice guide showing us the fabric before the leather soak.
The workshop is really cool.  An old building with one end exposed and covered in glass.

What would a field trip be without lunch?

The best Kase Spaetzle ever.  But I've said that before.

A beautiful church is always handy just in case.

After lunch we head over to the local shoe shop.

I can't remember what these are called but they are made at the shop using wooden bottoms and cow hide tops.  Rachel says they are great for gardening.  They were originally produced for farmers.

What do you think, too much?

All sizes and shapes.
This is where Jacob and Rachel leave us for our vacation.
