What's a day in Austria without pastry?

Our favorite coffee shop in Bregenz is really decked out for Christmas.

This my personal favorite, banana yogurt, sounds like it should be healthy
right? I don't think so.

We walked past Hannah's school on the way home, It's named for a 6th century Irish monk.

This a better better pic of Hannah and David's school better known as Hogwart High.

We think cycling in Texas is hard.

Jacob and his snowman

Jacob and David's hat!

It's final night for the Burgers.  They all got their white belt and we celebrated at the local gasthaus.

Second week of Christmas

Rachel is part of a group of English speaking friends from America, New Zealand, and Australia who get together once a month. I was able to join them for the first time this year, we had a great time! This picture is just before the party got going, afterward who had time for pictures.

The next day we were off to pick out the perfect Christmas tree. I love this place, it's the 3rd year we've gotten our tree here.

It was snowing soo hard.

Andy looking for our tree

The Christmas tree lot is really quaint and they serve snaps!

See what I mean about the snow, it's a white out.

On Sunday Hannah and David served as alter people. It's always great to see them pitching in and they look so angelic.

After church, the tree is home and Rachel spent about 3 lifetimes putting on the lights.

Andy and Rachel made an amazing meal. Deer goulash, red cabbage and knoodle. Ummmmmm!

One of the chefs.

A little something sweet.

The next day we went to the market on town. It snowed again but even harder.

One of our stops was a cheese shop, oh my goodness I wanted to move in!

David met us for lunch, he's such a pleasant dinner companion. We went to the Kornmesser. I had white sausage, David and Mike had spinach spatzle, don't ask.

We walked home in the driving snow and when we turned down the Burger's street Jacob was there to meet us.

Hannah too, but she had mischief on her mind!

First week of Christmas in Bregenz.

David is explaining math to Mike?

It's a eureka moment!

Hannah working on math too, no drama!

Jacob found a quite place to work.

The beginning of ladies night out. It got much more exciting than this.

Rachel made cookies all day, next year we plan to buy them from the bakery!

Last Few Days

It must be time to leave the clouds are rolling in from the mountain.

Jacob is a real Saver he was so happy to have something to feed his pig.

We worked a few puzzels

Hannah and Mike worked on some math via Skyp.

Hannah at breakfast.  We made blueberry pancakes.  I'd show you a picture but we ate them too fast!

Andy and Rachel came home

And brought some bagels from NY.

Ground photography.  This one marks the spot where the lake shore was during the Roman times.  There are Roman remains all over the place around here.  The Burgers have found a few items when digging their swimming pool and garden. You can see them at the museum in town.

We are taking a short cut through the cemetery.  Here we have to walk our bikes unless no one is looking.

Here we are heading into town.

Hannah and Liza off to school.

Rachel made an amazing looking Linzer Tart.  They say it gets better with time and this one is being saved for a dinner to honor her cousin Lena who will sponsor her during her confirmation.   So that's it.  I got home safe and sound.  It was a wonderful trip thanks to Rachel and Andy's marvelous organizational skills and also thanks to my perfect grandchildren.
